Piper’s Hill College Teaching Learning and Assessment
Teaching, Learning and Assessment in Piper’s Hill College
We are committed to making sure that Piper’s Hill College is a place where both students and staff can thrive in a safe and supportive learning environment. Teaching, learning and assessment are part of the core business of our school. Each month, Ms. Edwards hosts a Teaching and Learning Club and it has become extremely popular with staff. This provides an opportunity for collaboration and the sharing of skills, expertise and experience.
As a school, we value student voice – particularly in the area of teaching and learning. We have a student-led Teaching and Learning Team. This month, the student team presented to staff on the features of Quizlet. They prepared a detailed presentation that showed all of the features of Quizlet. They also shared the feedback from their focus groups with staff. Our Teaching and Learning Website showcases the leading innovations and methodologies being used around the school.
Earlier this year, we were delighted to celebrate the achievements of our Leaving Certificate 2022 students. 16% of our students achieved 500 CAO points or more and 9 out of 15 students received a Distinction in Leaving Certificate Applied. Students were invited to a reception in the school in recognition of their success. Stephy Regi Paul achieved a perfect Leaving Certificate with 7 H1’s. Savindu Kulatunga received an award for his outstanding result of 100% in both higher level Maths and Physics. Nigel Madden and Mia Cullen were both recognised for their exceptional achievements of attaining 100% in the Leaving Certificate Applied Programme.
