School Completion Programme (SCP)
The school completion model takes a “bottom-up” approach which enables the local management committee (LMC) to put in place supports to target the needs of children at risk from early school leaving.
Supports are used in the school completion programme to offer In-school support, After-school support, Out-of-school support and Holiday support.
The aims of the school completion programme is to retain our young people in education. To improve childrens participation in school particularly those who are at risk. The school completion programme brings together all agencies working to support children at risk of early school leaving.
Positive supports are offered to prevent educational disadvantage. Children who have left main stream education are encouraged to return to school. The school completion programme stakeholders influence in a positive way, policies relating to the prevention of early school leaving in the education system.
