The student must have reached four years of age on or before the 31st August of the school academic year for which they are seeking enrolment. To accommodate this age range, the school provides classes from primary through to post-primary level, with class groupings based on appropriate peer groupings and the individual needs of each student.
In accordance with Department of Education regulations, students will leave the school at the end of the academic year in which they reach 18 years of age.
The school operates in accordance with the Rules for National Schools and all relevant circulars, regulations and directives issued by the Primary and Special Education sections of the Department of Education. The school is funded through grants provided by the Department of Education, and staffing allocations are provided in accordance with the staffing arrangements and allocations determined by the Department of Education.
Under the direction of KWETB, the school will be managed on an interim basis by a Single Manager pending the appointment of a Board of Management. The Board of Management will comprise representatives of KWETB, parents, school staff and the wider community.
Ros Glas Community Special School will deliver the curriculum as prescribed by the Department of Education, adapted to meet the educational needs of each student. A variety of methodologies and strategies are adopted to maximise each student’s learning potential. Supported by each student’s multidisciplinary team, teachers and staff will provide a caring and challenging learning environment that fosters personal, social and academic development. All students will have an Individual Education Plan designed specifically to meet their individual needs.
Forging meaningful relationships with the students, their parent(s)/guardian(s) and all those involved in their care and education is essential to ensuring a quality educational experience for our learners.
